Abstract
Description
The images show struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) scale formation within 100 mm (4 in.) diameter PVC pipelines used in swine manure management systems. The pipelines transport lagoon effluent for land application. Mineral scale deposits approximately 25 mm (1 in.) thick are present along the interior pipe surfaces, with increased accumulation observed at bends and joints.
