Biosystems Engineering Digital Library
The Biosystems Engineering Digital Library (BEDL) is an open-access resource platform designed to facilitate the sharing of digital content to support education in biosystems engineering and related disciplines worldwide. Educators, researchers, and practitioners are invited to contribute digital content (objects), such as images, videos, and datasets, and to download and use content contributed by others. Each contributor retains ownership of their contributed object(s), and each object is reviewed and assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
Detailed instructions for contributing objects are available through the “How to Contribute” quicklink. To contribute, register on the BEDL platform; once registered, you can log in at any time to submit one or more objects. Each submission requires completing a brief form with the metadata that provides context for the digital object or group of objects and uploading the associated file(s). After submission, the object(s) and associated metadata are reviewed for clarity and completeness. An email is sent to you with the results of the review, indicating if the submission is approved or if additional information is needed. When approved, a DOI is assigned to each object (or group of objects), and your contribution is added to BEDL.
Launched in June 2026, BEDL is growing its collections and welcomes your contributions. Our mission is to provide high-quality resources that enrich educational experiences across the global community. Every contribution is valued and appreciated. For questions or comments, please use the “Feedback” quicklink below or email bedl@asabe.org.
BEDL was created by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) to promote the globalization of the biosystems engineering discipline. BEDL is made available through a partnership between ASABE and the University Libraries at Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech hosts the service and provides the long-term preservation of the objects uploaded to BEDL on behalf of ASABE.
